European Centre for Minority Issues - Action, Research, DocumentationEuropean Centre for Minority Issues Kosovo has facilitated the founding of a ‘businessmen association’ in the Serb-majority municipality of Ranilug/Ranillug.

As part of a project on inclusive growth, ECMI Kosovo is currently playing a facilitating role in the founding of the Agricultural Association of Businessmen of municipality of Ranilug. A crucial meeting took place on May 29, reports ECMI Kosovo’s May 2014 newsletter.

The founding of the association is part of the project Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Growth for All Newly-established Municipalities in Kosovo that foresees activities in the Serb-dominated municipalities of Gračanica/Graçanicë, Klokot/Kllokot, Leposavić/Leposaviq, Mitrovica North, Novo Brdo/Novobërdë, Parteš/Partesh, Ranilug/Ranillug, Štrpce/Shtërpcë, Zubin Potok and Zvečan/Zveçan.

The aim of the project is to create conditions for local economic development in the Serb-dominated municipalites.

The idea of creating an independent agricultural hub of businessmen in Ranilug/Ranillug came after a number of meetings between ECMI Kosovo staff, the mayor and the local community. It follows the positive example already carried out by ECMI Kosovo in establishing a business association in Gračanica/Graçanicë.

This project is supported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and implemented by ECMI Kosovo.
